[KOREA TRAVEL GUIDE] TRAVEL IN YESAN

 

The popularity of budget markets has led to a lot of visits these days.
If you've traveled a long way, you might be disappointed if you only see budget markets, so here are a few places to visit.
If you go to these places, you'll have seen all the good budget destinations.


1, Yedang Lake (예당호)

 

A representative budget travel destination with the longest suspension bridge in Korea.

 

*Yedang Lake Monorail (예당호 모노레일)

 

If you put 'Yedang Lake' on the map, there are free parking lots right nearby.
The monorail doesn't go around Yedang Lake, but instead goes around the park as shown in the map.
It's a scenic ride, and many people say it's more thrilling and fun than you'd think because of the high speed and incline for a monorail.

The monorail is located about a 10-minute drive from the Yesan Budget Market.
If you have an early start on a weekend morning and want to ride the monorail, we recommend booking your tickets here first and then heading to the Yesan Budget Market.
The monorail runs every 15 minutes from 9am.
Advance phone reservations are only available on weekdays for rides after 6pm, all other times are on-site purchases.
Tickets are available from 8:50am, so make sure to reserve your time slot in advance.
If you want to use a table in the plaza at Budget Market, you need to reserve a seat in advance, so be there by 10am at the latest, an hour before it opens.

 

 

*Yedangho Chulungdari (예당호 출렁다리)

Closed the first Monday of every month (closed the following day if it falls on a national holiday)

Admission is free, and we recommend walking only to the observation deck in the middle of the bridge.
The bridge isn't as wobbly as you might think.
From here, you can watch musical fountain shows at set times throughout the day and night.
At 8:30pm, you can watch a laser beam video show of animated characters that kids will love in the plaza near the entrance.
It runs for 20 minutes each time.

*Yedang Lake Golden Tree (예당호 황금나무)

On the far side of the Yedang Lake Monorail, you'll find the famous Golden Tree.
For those who want to enjoy a relaxing cup of tea, take a picture of the cafe arete on the map.
For those who just want to see the tree, park at the Norye Saemaul Hall and cross the street.
There is a tree in the lake in front of this cafe that glows golden at sunset. 
Personally, the prettiest time to see it is in winter, before the leaves grow.

 

 

 

 

2, Agroland Taehsin Ranch (아그로랜드)

Adult 11,000 won / Child 8,000 won (Weekends + 1,000 won)

Often used as a filming location for dramas.
This 300,000-acre ranch offers several photo zones in the middle of large forests and meadows.
This is a budget location, but it's a bit farther away and closer to Dangjin.
I recommend visiting during your trip to Dangjin or in the spring and summer when the leaves are green.

 

3, Sudeoksa Temple (수덕사)

This is a budget temple with a large size and a very touristy atmosphere.
Parking is 2,000 won all day for a regular car and there is plenty of space.
The road to the temple is lined with shops and restaurants, giving it a more touristy feel.

 5, Samguk Festival (삼국축제)

The Samguk Festival is a festival held every October at Gukbap Street near Budget Market.
Samguk means chrysanthemum, noodles, and gukbap.
It is said to be organized with a lot of support from Baek Jong-won's The Bone.
